Select/Rattlers Baseball

Overview:

Select Baseball (Rattlers) is designed for advanced players looking to compete at a higher level following the spring Little League season. Participation is based on performance at a competitive tryout, with the season running from September through December. Selected teams will have the opportunity to play in the Little League Select League, scrimmage, join local travel leagues, and compete in nearby travel ball tournaments—providing players with meaningful development and game experience.

ELIGIBILITY AND COMMITMENT

We will have teams for ages 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U

While we encourage our youth to play all different sports, those participating in our Select program will be required to make Rattlers baseball their priority when it conflicts with other practices or games.

TEAM SELECTION

Following tryouts, a selection committee made up of experienced Rattler coaches will thoughtfully form the teams. While not all players will be placed on a Rattlers roster, we strongly encourage those who aren’t selected to continue developing their skills through our Laguna Niguel Little League Fall Ball program. It’s a great way to stay active, improve, and prepare for future opportunities.

The coaches are selected from the LNLL All Star coaching staff who are vetted and approved by the board.

Practice

Practices will start in August

Dates and times will be determined by the coaches at a later time.

Field Size

11u/12u play 50/70 field
8u, 9u, 10u play 46/60 (same as little league)

Bat Regulations

The Select program allows both USA and USSSA bats, giving players more flexibility and access to higher-performance equipment often used at the travel ball level.

Summary

We’re excited to continue growing the game of baseball here in Laguna Niguel. This program is designed to elevate players at every level, while keeping them connected to our local baseball community. While there are many travel programs out there, we believe this one offers something truly special for our families.
